The Henry - Residential flat building, Manly

Currently on drawing board.

A residential flat building sited on a corner, containing 5 apartments only a few minutes walk from the beach - yet the streets feel more city-like with a mixture of duplexes and apartments. The design is taking full advantage of a fairly generous height limit control. That and multitude of large (over-developed?) properties in the immediate vicinity gives rise to a prominent corner opportunity.

Henry's path hasn't necessarily been all smooth sailing. My involvement in this project started with initial sketches and massing, followed with coordination of consultants and DA lodgement, negotiations with council during the assessment process (including several design compromises) - all leading to a surprising refusal. Subsequently, an agreement was reached (more design compromises) during the determination appeal mechanism; only for The Henry to be sold!

Original Corner Perspective

The images above and below are only a few years apart - former as originally intended and the latter being the current version of post-adolescent Henry showing notable beach-y vibe. Works on construction documentation are underway to bring this project to life, estimated mid 2025.

Final Corner Perspective

All apartments are designed to bring maximum level of amenity to their occupants with the quintessential indoor-outdoor connection and considered privacy.

Whilst I have nurtured lovingly The Henry project since its conception, my work has been conducted as an employee and so the credit also goes to the whole team of Platform Architects, company holding all intellectual property rights of this design.
